After Years of Studying Parenting, This Audiobook Surprised Me

I’ll admit, I was skeptical at first.
As a licensed marriage and family therapist and elementary school counselor, I’ve read and listened to many parenting resources over the years. So when the Parenting Wrong audiobook opened with playful voices, music, and a theatrical, sometimes dramatic style, I wondered if the creative approach would come at the expense of the message.
It didn’t.
What surprised me was how much depth was underneath the unique presentation.
The storytelling format made the ideas easier to absorb, not less meaningful. I found myself smiling at times, but I also paused to reflect on deeper messages about relationships, communication, and how we connect with children.
The reflection questions at the end of each chapter were one of my favorite parts. They encourage you to move beyond simply listening and actually consider how the ideas apply in everyday life.
This is not a traditional parenting audiobook—and that’s exactly what makes it stand out.
If you’re looking for a lecture-style parenting book filled with lists and instructions, this may not be what you expect. But if you’re open to a creative approach that combines storytelling with meaningful insights, this is a memorable and worthwhile listen.

Helping Parents Lead with Love
If only I had this book when raising my daughter!
As a mom, I wasn’t sure what to expect from the title “Parenting Wrong,” but I’m glad I gave it a chance. The more I read, the more it resonated with me.
It really highlights something important—that there’s no perfect way to parent, and that many of us unknowingly repeat patterns from how we were raised. Honestly, that idea stayed with me and made me reflect on my own parenting in a new way.
What I appreciated most is that Parenting Wrong doesn’t feel preachy. It’s written in a personal, story-driven style that makes it easy to connect with. The “Parenting Hack” chapters stood out—short, practical, and genuinely useful.

Provided useful and practical tips to improve communication with my grandchild!
I’m a retired grandpa and my seven year old granddaughter visits us a lot-sometimes for the whole day.
I like the “parenting hacks” chapters in this book because they are easy, practical, useful, reminders on how to communicate with her.
I guess I never realized how important it is to first think about the way you say something to a child.
The book’s “parenting hacks” taught me that way I express myself to her, can make such a difference to my granddaughter and often lighten the tone and improve our interaction and her behavior.
In just a couple of days, I’ve tried a few of the “parenting hacks” and they really seem to work with her!
The book is an easy read because the chapters are story-driven. I highly recommend the Parenting Wrong book to anyone who is a parent, a grandparent or anyone who relates to children.

Very insightful
Great [audio] book with lots of insights into successful parenting. What I really liked was that when I am taking the advice of the book (such as treating my children with respect and kindness), that it helps me become a more respectful and kind person myself. As much as allowing my children to grow into well- adjusted individuals, I am also growing as a person.
Also, lots of the principles apply to any person, adults or children, relatives, friends, and strangers. This book has so many great ideas of how to interact in all relationships, but especially the very important bond between parents and their children.

Louie Stevens' book Parenting Wrong: Turning Oops into a-Ha Transforming Generational Trauma for Family Growth is a practical guide for any parent or grandparent.
The book provides numerous, helpful and practical "parenting hacks” that can be tried immediately when interacting with children.
The tone of the book is kind and funny. It's an enjoyable read! I highly recommend it for any parent, grandparent, pre-school teacher or school teacher.
